The Spanish daily AS reports that Sporting is interested in 18-year-old winger Gabriel Mec. The player has one year remaining on his contract with Grêmio. Grêmio is trying to renew Gabriel Mec's contract until 2028, but this has not yet been accomplished. A transfer at this point would require a fee of approximately €16 million.

Gremio is preparing to consider offers for their 17-year-old player, Gabriel Mec, in the summer transfer window. The club's coach is playing him in the first team to increase his market value. Sporting is among several European clubs interested in the attacking midfielder, with Benfica, Liverpool, and Shakhtar also mentioned as interested parties. It was reported in March 2026 that Shakhtar's bid for Mec reached as high as €16 million. Gremio communicated that they would require a minimum of €20 million to sell the player.
