Chelsea have renewed their interest in Gabriel Mec, a 17-year-old goalkeeper from Gremio. Chelsea were close to signing the Brazilian teenager in 2024 and had reached an agreement for a transfer, but they ultimately withdrew from the deal. Interest was renewed before last summer, and the club are reportedly considering a possible move again. It is reported that Gremio are demanding a fee of between €15-20m. Chelsea and Newcastle United are also interested. Mec has more than 12 months left on his current contract and although Gremio want to finalise a contract extension, a sale could be permitted this summer so the club can avoid him leaving on a Bosman transfer in 2027. He has one cap for the Brazil U17 team.
