The Brazilian club Grêmio is considering an alternative option if their primary pursuit of Huracán midfielder Leonel Pérez is not completed. Negotiations for Pérez are advancing based on an offer of $2.5 million for 50 percent of his rights. If this deal fails, the club has identified 24-year-old Argentinian defensive midfielder Franco Ibarra of Rosario Central as another possibility. Ibarra joined his current club in January 2025, and his contract is set to expire at the end of 2027. In the 2025/2026 season, he has made three appearances in the Torneo Apertura. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €4.50m.
