Swindon boss Ian Holloway confirmed he had explored the possibility of a permanent deal for Finley Munroe, but accepted defeat after learning of interest from clubs in higher divisions of the EFL. Aston Villa recalled the 20-year-old left-back from Swindon, with Bristol City also making an attempt to sign him. However, Munroe indicated a preference for Middlesbrough, who have now signed him after agreeing to a £300,000 fee with Villa in a deal that will also include a sell-on clause. Holloway stated his belief that Aston Villa are making a mistake by not offering Munroe a new contract and letting him leave.
