According to Fabrizio Romano, interest in Exequiel Palacios is growing, and four additional clubs from the Premier League and Bundesliga are now competing for him. The midfielder is set to leave Bayer Leverkusen.

A transfer request has been submitted by the agent of Exequiel Palacios, although the clubs the player prefers have not yet shown interest. This season, Bayer Leverkusen is paying Exequiel Palacios a salary that is 25 percent lower because of a specific agreement signed during his contract extension in October 2025. Palacios's annual salary is now around 5.25 million euros instead of about 7 million euros, as Bayer Leverkusen is playing in the Europa League in 2026/27 and not the Champions League.

Exequiel Palacios, the Argentina international, wants to leave Leverkusen, and his agent has communicated that the player is considering a transfer. His preferred destination is the Premier League. Recently, the promoted side Ipswich Town made an inquiry, which is not an option for Palacios as he sees himself at a top club in England. Simon Rolfes confirms that there is also interest in Palacios this year. The midfielder is under contract until 2030. Rolfes says that Leverkusen will only do something if they can improve themselves. The Argentine can leave if an appropriate transfer fee is met and the club secures a new top player for central midfield. The fee is likely to be over €40 million.
