Aston Villa are being linked with a £30m move for Leeds United's 25-year-old Welsh international defensive midfielder, Ethan Ampadu, as the club prepares for its return to the Champions League. The interest comes as Ampadu enters the final year of his contract, and Leeds have been urged to prioritise offering him a major new deal. In January, talks for an extension were planned and there was confidence at Elland Road the player was interested in signing, which would include a significant pay rise. With no official agreement announced, former star Stan Collymore has spoken in favor of a move to Villa Park. Speaking to talkSPORT, Collymore described Ampadu as having a player profile that is perfect for the Midlands club in the PSR era, stating they need to be more diligent with spending. Despite the transfer links, sources have reportedly not heard anything to suggest a move away is likely this summer, and there is a belief that Ampadu will commit to a new contract at Leeds. Ampadu, who has 61 caps for Wales, joined Leeds from Chelsea in July 2023 for a reported €8.1 million and his current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €25.00m. Manchester United have also been linked with the player.
