Arnaud Pouille, the executive president of Stade Rennais, has stated that Estéban Lepaul is one of three players the club said would not leave this summer. This group also included their goalkeeper and a young central defender. Pouille said that Lepaul is aware of this and described the player and his entourage as people with whom discussions are pleasant and who are in a superb state of mind. The president also said that neither Lepaul nor the club has a desire for him to leave. He added that the club always tries to retain its key players and that he hopes to demonstrate they can keep Lepaul in 8 days. Pouille noted that he, the owner, the Pinault family, the coach, and the sporting director are all aligned on this matter. He stated that although things can change, Estéban will be at Rennes on September 2.

French Centre-Forward Estéban Lepaul, 26, has extended his contract with Rennes until June 2030. The contract extension was announced on Thursday. Lepaul attracted interest during the summer transfer window after his 2025-2026 season, in which he was the top scorer in Ligue 1 with 21 goals in 34 appearances. Several clubs had been linked with him, including Atlético Madrid, Benfica, and Como. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €35.00m.
