Emre Can: Borussia Dortmund Contract Extension

According to 'Sport Bild', Emre Can's contract, which expires next summer, is planned to be extended by two years until 2028. The specialist magazine reports that the likelihood of Emre Can being retained is very high and that negotiations are already quite advanced. Completion is expected at the beginning of the year, in either January or February. The current salary is not expected to change significantly, with the report adding that Can earns approximately one million more than Brandt.

According to 'Sport Bild', BVB wants to continue with Emre Can irrespective of an extension option because he is highly regarded by the management. Can is also open to an extension. His contract expires next summer and includes a one-year extension option that is linked to certain playing times. These playing times are now difficult to achieve due to an injury break.

According to Bild, Emre Can is expected to sign a contract extension with his current club, although an important clause reportedly does not apply.

Bild reports that Emre Can's contract could be extended with a significantly reduced salary if he becomes fully fit. The reason is the high regard in which the 48-time German international is held by the team and coach Niko Kovac.

Emre Can's contract situation at Borussia Dortmund has reportedly changed. Previously considered a clear candidate for sale due to his contract expiring in 2026, a contract extension is now possible according to 'Bild'. The extension is likely if Borussia Dortmund qualifies for European competition.
