RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Atletico Madrid were among a number of clubs from across Europe present at the Renato Dall’Ara on Saturday to assess Monza centre-forward Gustavo Varela. The 21-year-old Portuguese striker has attracted growing interest after scoring nine goals in his first nine Serie A starts, which followed his July 2026 move from Benfica for a fee that was reported to be between €2.5 million and €3.5 million. Varela has four goals in seven caps for Portugal's U21 side and is under contract with Monza until June 2030. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €5.0M, while reports in October 2026 valued him at approximately €15 million. Several Premier League clubs are also monitoring him. Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United are among the clubs he has been recently linked with.
