Saudi club Al Ittihad is continuing its efforts to recruit 28-year-old Egyptian international Emam Ashour from Al Ahly. An initial proposal of 4 million dollars, with an additional 500,000 dollars in bonuses, was rejected by the Cairo-based club. Al Ahly deemed the amount insufficient, believing it did not reflect the player's market value or his importance within the squad. Consequently, Al Ittihad has returned with a revised offer of 6 million dollars for a permanent transfer. The proposed deal also includes an annual salary of 4 million dollars for the midfielder, which would position him as one of the highest-paid players in the club's project. Al Ahly is now studying the new proposal before making a final decision. Ashour, who has 34 caps for Egypt, is under contract until 2028 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €4.00m. Several British clubs, including Celtic, West Ham United, and Brighton & Hove Albion, have also been linked with the player. Al Ahly reportedly rejected a €5.6 million offer from Neom in June 2026 and countered with an asking price of €9.3 million.
