Ellis Simms Transfer from Coventry City to Stoke City

40m ago

A summer move to Stoke City has been suggested for Coventry City's 25-year-old English-Polish striker, Ellis Simms. Simms was an important player in Coventry's promotion to the Premier League under Frank Lampard last season and could now be leaving the club. During the last campaign, Simms was selected less frequently than Haji Wright, making 15 starts in his 43 appearances and scoring 13 goals. A departure for the forward is described as being very likely. This is partly because Coventry's attack has been strengthened by the addition of Taiwo Awoniyi, and a deal for Sidiki Cherif is reportedly nearing completion for a £21 million fee, which leaves Simms without a clear position in the team. Coventry's contract with Simms expires at the end of the next season, so the club may choose to sell him to avoid him leaving on a free transfer. Stoke might be able to sign him for a reduced fee, which could be less than the £10 million that they were reportedly prepared to offer for George Hirst, another target. If the transfer occurs, Simms would be reunited with manager Mark Robins. Robins previously signed Simms for Coventry from Everton in 2023 for a fee that has the potential to increase to £8 million. According to Transfermarkt, the player's current market value is €12.00m. He has also been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
