RB Leipzig made an approach for Dženan Pejčinović, a 21-year-old centre-forward from VfL Wolfsburg, who was also the subject of strong interest from FC Porto. According to 'Bild', Leipzig considered an attempt to sign the player after their planned transfer of Fisnik Asllani collapsed. This effort was not successful because it was the explicit wish of Pejčinović, a Germany U21 international who also holds Montenegrin citizenship, to join VfB Stuttgart. VfB Stuttgart had initially hesitated to pay the €25 million fee demanded by Wolfsburg but eventually agreed to the terms. 'Bild' also reported that Pejčinović is expected in Stuttgart for his medical on Monday, and an official announcement is anticipated in the coming week. Pejčinović joined Wolfsburg in July 2022 for a reported fee of €1.3 million, and his contract was due to expire in June 2029. Before the final agreement, VfB Stuttgart's offers reportedly started at €18 million in July 2026. A €23 million bid from FC Porto in July/August 2026 and a €15 million offer from SC Freiburg in June 2026 were also rejected. His current market value is listed by Transfermarkt at €15.00m.
