Dominik Szoboszlai Transfer from Liverpool to Manchester City

Diario AS reports that Manchester City and Real Madrid are monitoring Dominik Szoboszlai's situation at Liverpool amid uncertainty over his long-term future. Both clubs have been impressed by the performances of the Hungarian midfielder, and City have been particularly impressed by his adaptability and athleticism. While neither Man City nor Real Madrid are expected to make an immediate move, both clubs are monitoring developments.

Hungarian outlet Hir TV recently claimed that Man City are watching Dominik Szoboszlai’s contract talks with Liverpool closely, and added that either City or Madrid could move for him if Liverpool fail to meet his wage demands. According to the report, there is a sense of panic at Liverpool as they have been made aware of rival interest in the midfielder. Szoboszlai currently earns £120,000 a week and is in line for a significant pay rise for his performances. Hir TV suggested his prospective new deal will be worth £180,000-£200,000 per week, and described City and Madrid as clubs that must be watched. It has also been suggested that his price tag has reached the €100m (£88m) mark due to his form. On Saturday, Fabrizio Romano said contract talks between Szoboszlai and Liverpool are advancing.

According to the English press, Manchester City would be happy to have Dominik Szoboszlai in their squad. The club's Catalan coach, Pep Guardiola, is expected to be the manager until 2027 and participates in all transfer decisions. It is also stated that it is not possible to be certain about the transfer, partly because City tends to show interest in almost every top-class player.

It is reported that Liverpool are concerned about the possibility of 25-year-old Hungarian attacking midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai leaving for either Manchester City or Real Madrid, and this is reportedly the primary reason the club is attempting to secure a new contract with him. A report from the Hungarian outlet Hir TV has stated that Liverpool are not close to an agreement with the player. The same source suggests that links to Manchester City and Real Madrid are possibilities, indicating the clubs could attempt to sign him if he does not agree to new terms. The Hir TV report adds that Real Madrid has a particular interest in Szoboszlai and previously attempted to sign him from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020. The report also notes his current Liverpool contract is valid until 2028. Szoboszlai joined Liverpool in July 2023. Transfermarkt values him at €85.00m. He has scored 17 goals in 59 appearances for Hungary, and in the current Premier League season, he has registered one goal and three assists in one appearance.
