Darío Benedetto leaving Newell's Old Boys?
Club Atlético Newell’s Old Boys announced that the contract with footballer Darío Benedetto has been terminated by mutual agreement. This agreement was reached a few hours after interim coach Lucas Bernardi communicated to the forward that he would not be included in his plans. The termination of the contract was consensual.
According to the Argentine newspaper Olé, the player will terminate his contract with the Rosario team despite having an agreement until mid-2026. He has decided to leave after learning that Lucas Bernardi would not consider him in the final part of the Clausura championship, with the team having very few chances of reaching the playoffs and being excluded from contention for international competitions.
Interim coach Lucas Bernardi informed Darío Benedetto that he would not be considered for the rest of the season and that he is expected to terminate his contract and leave the club shortly. Benedetto is expected to seek new opportunities after his contract termination. His period at Newell's was characterized by muscular injuries and no goals in nine games. Bernardi's decision preceded what was already an anticipated early conclusion to Benedetto's time at Newell's, as his intention was to leave the club at the end of the championship due to his unsuccessful performance and economic issues with the club.
