The situation was further complicated by Botafogo's recent sale of another key player, Gregore, to Al-Rayyan in the same transfer window. Additionally, Danilo had been bought from Nottingham Forest just 45 days earlier for 22 million euros, marking the most expensive purchase in the club's history.
