Chuba Akpom Transfer from Ajax to Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town have reached an agreement in principle with Ajax for a one-year loan deal for Chuba Akpom, with a mandatory purchase option of £7 million if Ipswich achieves promotion to the Premier League. Akpom is expected to undergo medical examinations shortly and sign with Ipswich Town. Ipswich aims to fill the gap left by Liam Delap with Akpom's signing.

Ipswich Town is seeking to secure a permanent transfer for Chuba Akpom from Ajax. Ipswich, along with Birmingham City and Middlesbrough, is set to compete in the second tier of English football next season. Ajax is inclined to sell Akpom to generate funds for acquiring new players. The 29-year-old English striker is not part of Ajax's coach John Heitinga's plans and has been left out of first-team training sessions. Birmingham City had shown interest in Akpom, suggesting a loan deal with an option to buy, whereas Ipswich Town is pursuing a permanent deal. Middlesbrough, Akpom's former team, seemed to have delayed their approach. Ajax is keen to offload Akpom, one of their top earners, to enable new signings. His contract with the Dutch club is valid until June 2028, with his market value estimated at €7.00m by Transfermarkt.
