Birmingham City are interested in Sporting Gijon's 25-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder César Gelabert as they search for a new number 10. La Liga clubs, along with the MLS teams Columbus Crew and Minnesota United, are also interested in signing him. Gelabert has two years remaining on his contract, so interested parties will not be able to sign him for a low fee, particularly as Sporting Gijon is said to consider him a key part of their project. Gelabert, who joined the club in July 2025, has been capped by Spain at U19 level. His current Transfermarkt market value is €4.00m.
