América, Chivas, and Rayados de Monterrey are all observing Chicago Fire player Brian Gutiérrez, who holds both United States and Mexico nationalities. It is understood that both América and Monterrey are in a slightly better position in the effort to sign the 22-year-old attacker. Chivas had previously made approaches, but their position in the negotiations has since weakened. Despite significant and continued interest, no formal offer has been made for Gutiérrez. According to Tom Bogert of The Athletic, Gutiérrez recently obtained his Mexican passport, which means he would not take up a foreign player spot in Liga MX. Gutiérrez, who has two caps for the USA, joined the Chicago Fire in March 2020 and has a contract valid until the end of 2028. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value at €5.00m.
