Guardiola stated that he wants what is best for Bernardo and that if Silva wants to stay, Guardiola will be more than delighted and happy. However, Guardiola also said that he has not discussed this matter with Silva. The manager added that he wants the best for the player's family, and mentioned that Silva has been at the club for nine years and will decide what is best.

According to Fichajes, Manchester City are accelerating the process of extending Bernardo Silva’s contract in response to rising interest from Benfica and Juventus. The player's contract is set to expire next summer.
