Sampdoria is interested in bringing midfielder Antoine Makoumbou back to Italy from his current Turkish club, Samsunspor. According to information reported by Fabrizio Romano on his social channels, Sampdoria has started negotiations with the Turkish club for the player. The midfielder was born in 1998. The talks are reportedly at an advanced stage, as the club aims to strengthen the midfield available to coach Bernardo Corradi, which is currently lacking players due to fitness and injury problems. Makoumbou, a Congolese-French dual national who has an EU passport, previously played in Italy for Cagliari. The midfielder, who joined Samsunspor in July 2025, has a contract with the club until June 2029 and has earned 18 caps for the Congo national team, scoring one goal. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €4.00m, and he has also been linked with Greek clubs PAOK and Panathinaikos.
