Sunderland's English goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, who spent a period on loan at Millwall, is expected to leave the club permanently in the summer. Reports suggest there are multiple suitors for the 26-year-old, including Coventry City. Birmingham City have been urged to attempt to sign him, with a supposed asking price of up to £10m being mentioned, a fee which is thought to be affordable for the club. While Coventry's Premier League status could be an advantage for them, it is noted they are also assessing other targets, which could be an opportunity for Birmingham. Patterson has one cap for England U21 and his current Transfermarkt market value is €8.00m. A much higher historical asking price from Sunderland, reportedly around €23.5 million, dates back to September 2024.
