Anderlecht signed Andrew Omobamidele on loan from Strasbourg until the end of the season, in a transfer announced on a Wednesday evening. The transfer was unexpected because the Brussels-based club was thought to be focusing on its midfield towards the end of the transfer window. The 24-year-old Irish international defender has 10 caps for his country. He had been a starter for Strasbourg and was captain against Lens during the second match of the season. His departure reportedly caused astonishment among the followers of the French club. His contract with RC Strasbourg Alsace is due to expire in June 2029. Omobamidele is valued at 8 million euros. In its official statement, RSCA noted that the player made 54 official appearances for RC Strasbourg Alsace in French and European competitions, had previously played in England for Norwich City and Nottingham Forest, and had gained Premier League experience.
