John Textor was negotiating the transfer of 18-year-old Argentinian attacking midfielder Álvaro Montoro to Nottingham Forest before a court decision prohibited him from selling Botafogo assets. Palmeiras also expressed interest in the player, who joined from Vélez Sarsfield in 2025 for US$ 9 million, but their approach was rejected by Botafogo. Despite Textor's willingness to negotiate, the Brazilian club does not anticipate losing any more players as they are under a transfer ban and the current squad is considered too short according to a club source.
