Wrexham are competing with West Brom to sign English goalkeeper Alex Palmer from Ipswich Town. Palmer is one of West Brom's top targets. A report by the Daily Mail states that Wrexham has inquired with Ipswich about the possibility of signing the 29-year-old for the 2026-27 campaign. The Daily Mail report also values Palmer at £3.5m. This valuation is presented in the report as a more appealing deal for Wrexham than another target, Anthony Patterson of Sunderland, who is priced at approximately £8m. Palmer's standing at Ipswich has been reduced after an injury and the club's signing of two new goalkeepers, which makes a transfer likely. Palmer came through the West Brom youth system, and talks for him to return to The Hawthorns have reportedly subsided in recent weeks. Palmer moved to Ipswich from West Brom in February 2025 for a reported fee of £2m, and his contract expires in June 2028. Transfermarkt lists his current market value at €1.00m.
