Kilmarnock, whose manager Derek McInnes wanted to bring Nigerian centre-back Akpe Victory to the Scottish Premiership, was one of several European clubs monitoring the Zalaegerszeg defender, along with Rangers, Benfica, and Strasbourg. However, Swiss club FC Basel reached an agreement for the 19-year-old following intensive negotiations, with a financial package that met the Hungarian club's €5 million valuation. According to Italian transfer specialist Rudy Galetti, the Swiss side had successfully resolved the difference in valuation, and the centre-back had travelled to Switzerland to complete the transfer. The defender joined Zalaegerszeg in January 2026 with a contract lasting until June 2028 and made 41 league appearances in the 2025/2026 season, scoring one goal. Reports from May 2026 had indicated an asking price of approximately €5 million. Zalaegerszegi also reportedly rejected two previous offers from Basel in June 2026. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €2.00m.
