Adrian Rus Transfer from Pisa to Universitatea Craiova

Sport.ro has reported on Adrian Rus's return to the Romanian Superliga and his transfer to Universitatea Craiova. After spending six years abroad, Adrian Rus is set to rejoin the Romanian Superliga. Although he had offers from various clubs, including one from Serie B, he decided to sign with Universitatea Craiova. Gigi Becali disclosed that FCSB had an interest in acquiring Rus but ultimately decided against the transfer due to a 100,000 EUR agent fee. Mihai Rotaru, who finances Universitatea Craiova, stated that no agent fees were involved in the transfer since Rus did not have an agent. Negotiations with Rus had been ongoing for over two weeks as they awaited the resolution of his issues with Pisa.

Adrian Rus has signed a one-season contract with Universitatea Craiova, returning to the Romanian league after six years abroad. He was previously wanted by FCSB, but the transfer was refused due to a commission request by his agent. Rus was also offered by other teams, including interest from Spezia in Serie B, but ultimately chose Craiova.

Universitatea Craiova has expressed interest in Adrian Rus, a defender with dual Romanian and Hungarian nationality who is currently playing for Pisa, a team that recently ascended to Serie A. In early 2024, Craiova nearly secured his transfer while he was on loan at Pafos in Cyprus, but the deal fell through as Pafos declined to release him, despite an agreement already being in place with Pisa. This interest was rekindled in 2025 following the hiring of Mirel Rădoi as Craiova's coach. Rădoi, who had previously coached Rus at the national level, was a strong proponent of his acquisition. Nevertheless, negotiations did not advance and were ultimately discontinued. Adrian Rus, aged 29, holds a market value of 1.2 million euros and has earned 22 caps for Romania, having played in leagues in Hungary, Italy, and Cyprus. His current contract with Pisa is set to expire in June 2026.
