Watford are among a number of Championship clubs monitoring John Souttar, with Sheffield United and Cardiff City also named as interested in the 29-year-old centre-back. The Scotland international, who has 24 caps and 2 goals for his country, is said to be considering his future at Ibrox following the World Cup. He did not travel with Rangers on their pre-season trip to Spain, and was instead given time to consider his options. Souttar joined Rangers in July 2022 and his current contract runs until May 2027.

Rangers are expected to demand a seven-figure fee to approve his departure this summer. Leicester City had also been linked with Souttar, but the defender is reluctant to move to a League One club. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €2.00m. In July 2025, there were reports of offers from Trabzonspor ranging from €1 million to €1.5 million.
