VfL Wolfsburg has expressed interest in signing 24-year-old Nigerian international Raphael Onyedika from Club Brugge, with negotiations between the two clubs currently underway. The Bundesliga club wants to finalize a deal before the end of the winter transfer window. Club Brugge has set an asking price of slightly more than 20 million euros for the midfielder, but a decision on a potential transfer has not yet been made. There is also other interest from within Germany, as Eintracht Frankfurt, who were also interested in the player last summer, remain interested but would reportedly prefer a move after the season.
According to Patrick Berger, Wolfsburg is considering an immediate purchase of Onyedika, and the player had wanted to move to the Bundesliga the previous summer. Onyedika has 23 caps for Nigeria and his contract with the Belgian club runs until June 2027. This season, he has made 15 appearances and scored one goal in the Jupiler Pro League. He joined Club Brugge from FC Midtjylland in August 2022 for a reported €10 million. Last September, Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly had a €17 million loan-plus-option package for the player rejected.
