According to AS, Sevilla is seeking to sign a new number 9 in the January market, and 23-year-old Fábio Silva is one of the preferred options. Silva moved to Borussia Dortmund from Wolverhampton last summer for approximately €22 million. He has had limited game time, with five appearances and one assist in the Bundesliga this season. His contract with the German club is valid until June 2030. Transfermarkt estimates his market value to be €28.00m.
Due to his limited role, the German club wants to arrange a loan deal to revalue its investment. Sevilla's effort to sign the Portuguese striker is challenged by several factors, including his significant salary and competition from clubs in most of Europe's major leagues. Bayern Munich has also been recently linked with the player. Furthermore, Sevilla does not currently have any available spots in their squad. Silva is motivated to find a club where he can be guaranteed playing time, because he hopes to secure a position in Portugal's squad for the World Cup next year.
