Rangers linked with Leeds United forward Joël Piroe

A potential transfer for the Suriname international is considered a possibility towards the end of the winter window.

Rangers could possibly attempt to sign Leeds United forward Joël Piroe, 26, towards the end of the winter transfer window. The player's exit in January is considered a possibility after he has become a lower-priority player under Daniel Farke. The Suriname international was the top goalscorer in the EFL Championship last season, and a potential transfer is influenced by the 49ers Enterprises' ownership links at both clubs. Although the American owners have been hesitant to conduct business between the two sides, a deal that is beneficial to both could alter that situation.

Speaking on Go Ballistic, Scottish Sun journalist Andy Devlin said that Piroe is a player Rangers could potentially consider if they are still seeking a striker late in the window. Devlin also remarked that he believes there are other options for the club before Piroe. He described Celtic's previous attempt to sign the forward as strange, stating he did not think a move to Parkhead was ever a serious possibility due to the 49ers' association with Rangers. Piroe, who joined Leeds in August 2023 for a reported €14 million, has a contract until June 2027 and has made 10 appearances in the Premier League this season. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €15.00m.
