Pascal Groß set for an immediate winter transfer to Brighton

The German international is reportedly set for a transfer back to his former Premier League club.

Fabrizio Romano first reported that Pascal Groß is set for an immediate winter transfer from Borussia Dortmund back to his former club, Brighton & Hove Albion. The 34-year-old German international had been dissatisfied for weeks with his role as a substitute under coach Niko Kovac, which led his representatives to proactively explore the market. An inquiry from the Premier League club came at short notice, and an agreement has now been reached with Groß. The midfielder is expected to complete a medical examination in England within the next two days.

According to a report from Sky, Borussia Dortmund will receive a transfer fee of three million euros including bonus payments. The club signed the player for around seven million euros in 2024. Groß's contract was set to expire at the end of the season, with an extension already considered out of the question, and the club will now save half of his estimated 4.5 million euro salary. Groß has 16 caps and one goal for Germany. In the 2025/2026 Bundesliga season, he has made 11 appearances and provided one assist. His current Transfermarkt market value is €3.50m.
