Manchester United are monitoring Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, 26, after his impressive performances this season. TEAMtalk understands that interest in the Nigerian international is growing. Bassey has been a consistent performer for his club, where he has also served as captain. United's footballing department has been impressed as the club assesses defensive options for an extensive rebuild planned for 2027. Bassey is considered an attractive option due to his Premier League experience and his versatility to play at both centre-back and left-back.
However, United could face competition, as Newcastle United and Everton have also been monitoring the player. Interest is not limited to England, with Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and RB Leipzig also reportedly monitoring the defender. Bassey's contract is due to expire in the summer, and while Fulham has an option to extend it by another year and is interested in agreeing new terms, his situation is attracting interest from other clubs. The defender joined Fulham in July 2023 and has earned 47 caps for Nigeria, scoring one goal. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €28M.
