Manchester City and Arsenal have expressed interest in Julián Álvarez, a 26-year-old Argentine centre-forward from Atlético de Madrid. Manchester City is seeking a potential loan to reinforce its attack following the departures of Marmoush and Savinho. The player has reservations about returning to England, having left Manchester City two years ago.
Atlético de Madrid is reportedly unwilling to negotiate for less than 150 million euros, and both the club's CEO and coach have voiced their desire for Álvarez to stay. Earlier in the summer, a reported €150M offer from Real Madrid was rejected in June 2026, and a €100M bid from Barcelona was also turned down. Álvarez has 59 caps and 15 goals for Argentina, is under contract until 2030, and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €120.00m.
