Leeds United in talks for Romano Schmid

Discussions are ongoing between the two clubs over a potential winter transfer for the Austrian midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, who cited his own information, discussions are ongoing between SV Werder Bremen and Leeds United over a potential winter transfer for Romano Schmid. A transfer fee of 15 million euros plus bonuses is under consideration for the 25-year-old Austrian attacking midfielder. His contract with Werder Bremen runs until 2027. The German club views Schmid as sellable, partly due to a mixed first half of the season in which he was increasingly criticized by fans.

A sale was also possible during the summer, but no corresponding offer was made. Schmid has 31 caps and 3 goals for Austria. He has recorded 2 goals and 5 assists in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €17.00m. He was previously linked with clubs including West Ham United, Aston Villa, Fulham, and LOSC Lille.
