Kasper Dolberg, 28, has been told he is no longer needed at Ajax one season after rejoining the club. This development occurred less than a year after the Danish striker rejected an £8 million move to Celtic, choosing instead to return to his former club from Anderlecht when they made an offer late in the process. The Danish international has 56 caps and 12 goals for his country. Celtic, under Brendan Rodgers, had identified Dolberg as a primary target late in the summer window after Adam Idah's departure to Swansea City and were prepared to approve a significant deadline day transfer.
After the move to Ajax was not successful, technical director Jordi Cruijff told the player to find a new team, and Dolberg could now be available for a reduced fee. It is not yet known if Celtic will renew their interest, but pundit Pierre Van Hooijdonk has suggested he could join Eredivisie rivals Feyenoord, a club he has been linked with. Van Hooijdonk also believes Ajax will not recoup the ten million euros they paid for the forward. Dolberg's contract with Ajax runs until June 2029, and his current market value is listed by Transfermarkt as €10.00m.
