Cole Campbell set to join Hoffenheim from Borussia Dortmund

An agreement has been reached for the American winger's transfer, which will be a loan with an option to buy.

American winger Cole Campbell, 19, who also holds Icelandic nationality and was seeking a move after primarily playing for Borussia Dortmund's second team, is set to join TSG Hoffenheim. Club Brugge had a definite interest in the player, and RSC Anderlecht was also mentioned as being interested. Last summer, Dortmund had rejected a bid of over 7 million euros from VfB Stuttgart. Hoffenheim has now reached an agreement with Dortmund for a loan with a purchase option.

The loan fee is reported to be around 1.5 million euros, with the total value of the deal potentially exceeding 10 million euros if the transfer becomes permanent. Campbell is scheduled to undergo his medical tests soon. The United States U23 international joined Dortmund in July 2024 and has a contract until 2028. This season, he has made one Bundesliga appearance and two in the Regionalliga West for the second team, providing two assists. His current Transfermarkt market value is €5.00m.
