Celtic have reportedly shown interest in the Scottish player James Penrice, following reports that linked him with teams in England. The Scottish champions have made an initial inquiry about the 27-year-old AEK left-back. The same report suggests Penrice is being considered as a quality alternative to support Kieran Tierney, who has returned to Celtic after his time at Arsenal.
AEK acquired Penrice from Hearts in the summer of 2025 for a reported fee of €2.3 million, and he signed a contract that runs until 2028. In the 2025/2026 season, he made 16 appearances in the Super League 1. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €2.50m. Penrice has also been linked with Rangers, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, and Norwich City. AEK reportedly rejected a bid from Rangers in January 2026 valued at approximately €3.5 million, while the club's asking price in July 2026 is reported to be between €1.8 million and €2.5 million.
