Burnley are being linked with a number of players as the summer transfer window continues, with the latest reports connecting them to Welsh international Jordan James. Our analysis of the past seven days shows the club has been tied to six possible arrivals and one potential exit. The hottest storyline right now concerns winger Couhaib Driouech. Below are the latest updates on the most important transfer rumours surrounding the club.
Jordan James
On Sunday, it was reported that Burnley, West Ham United, Wolves, and Middlesbrough are among several parties interested in signing 22-year-old Welsh international Jordan James from his parent club, Rennes. The midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Leicester, is reportedly ready to move to the Championship. Rennes is seeking a permanent transfer fee of £10 million and is not interested in another loan deal. James has 26 caps and one goal for Wales, and his contract with the French club runs until 2028. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €12.00m.
Harry Amass
FLW’s Burnley fan pundit Aaron Wright has named Manchester United player Harry Amass as someone he would like to see sign for the club, suggesting a loan in an update from Sunday. It has been reported that Manchester United are open to a permanent sale for Amass and have set an asking price of £6 million. Stoke City and Birmingham City have also been linked with the player.
Greg Taylor
Greg Taylor is expected to leave Greek side PAOK this summer, according to a Saturday report. Multiple clubs are interested in him, including his former team Celtic, and it is reported that the 28-year-old is open to rejoining the Scottish champions. Celtic are considering him as one of several options for the left-back position but face competition from English Championship side Burnley and La Liga team Malaga.
Ronnie Edwards
Burnley are pursuing deals for Ronnie Edwards as they look to strengthen their squad, as of Friday. Ten days ago, rumours suggested that Burnley, who are rebuilding following player departures, had identified the 23-year-old English Centre-Back as a target. It is alleged that Queens Park Rangers are asking for a fee of approximately £18m for their main defender. Edwards joined Queens Park Rangers in January 2026 and has two caps for the England U21 team. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €5.00m.
Couhaib Driouech
On Friday, it was reported that Burnley are in the early stages of talks for winger Couhaib Driouech. That same day, it was noted that Rangers are competing with both Burnley and Celtic Vigo to sign him. An update from Wednesday stated that Burnley is interested in the 24-year-old Moroccan-Dutch winger, but the player is reportedly not interested in a move because his preference is to play for a club at the highest level. Genoa and Celta de Vigo had previously shown interest but did not continue their pursuit. Rangers are also trying to sign Driouech, but their first bid was considered insufficient as it did not approach the reported asking price of seven to eight million euros.
Max Weiss
Genoa is seeking a backup goalkeeper, and according to a report from Monday, one of the profiles being followed is Max Weiss, a German goalkeeper from Burnley. Weiss is considered a potential opportunity after receiving little playing time in the Premier League, making just three appearances last season, and with Burnley now having been relegated. The former Germany U21 international joined Burnley in July 2025 and has a contract with the club until 2029. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €4.00m.
James Penrice
Burnley and Rangers have both held talks and enquired about the availability of James Penrice, a 27-year-old Scottish defender at AEK Athens, as of last Sunday. The Greek club is now open to selling Penrice in the summer transfer window. A transfer to Rangers could result in a potential reunion for the defender with manager Derek McInnes. Penrice joined the Greek club in July 2025 and has a contract until 2028. A bid from Rangers in January 2026, reported to be €3.5 million, was rejected, and in July 2026, AEK's asking price was reportedly €2.5 million.
