Aberdeen are considering acquiring FC Kaiserslautern's Nigerian midfielder Afeez Aremu before the transfer window closes. The Scottish Premiership club is reportedly leading the pursuit for the 26-year-old. However, there is also interest from clubs in Israel, Poland, and Turkey, according to Press and journal.

Kaiserslautern are willing to sell Aremu, according to German reports. Aremu has six months remaining on his contract, and the club wants to recover part of the mid-six-figure sum they are said to have paid for him in 2023. Aremu has not played regularly this season, having started in only five of his eight appearances. Aberdeen view him as a potential solution in their search for a defensive midfielder, which has been a primary objective during the January window. The midfielder has one cap for Nigeria and has a current market value of €600k, according to Transfermarkt.
