Zeki Çelik Transfer from Roma to Fenerbahçe

6d ago

According to Turkiye Gazetesi, Fenerbahçe has targeted Roma's Zeki Celik for the upcoming season. Fenerbahçe is seeking experienced reinforcements for the right flank and considers Celik an ideal candidate due to his defensive qualities and familiarity with Turkish football and the national team. There are currently no advanced negotiations between the parties. The situation is influenced by ongoing, unresolved contract renewal talks between Celik and Roma, as his current contract is expiring at the end of the month. The gap between demand and offer has attracted the interest of several clubs, and the uncertainty surrounding his contract has increased transfer interest.

Fenerbahçe presidential candidate Hakan Safi has reportedly reached an agreement with Turkish Roma player Zeki Çelik, 29, as part of his election strategy. The move is influenced by the TFF's foreign player regulations. Following a prior statement from Safi, it is understood that Çelik is one of two national players with whom a verbal commitment has been made. Talks with the experienced right-back have progressed significantly, and he is said to have responded favorably to the offer from the 'Sarı-Lacivertliler'. Çelik has reportedly accepted the strong contract terms presented and is now waiting for the result of the club's presidential election. If Safi's side wins the vote, the plan is to announce the transfer officially a short time later. The defender, who has 60 caps and 3 goals for Turkiye, is under contract with Roma until June 2026 and has a current market value of €14.00m according to Transfermarkt. Galatasaray, Inter, and Juventus have also been mentioned in connection with the player. Çelik moved from Lille to Roma in July 2022 for a €7.0M fee; in January 2025, Galatasaray was reportedly mentioned in connection with a loan that included a purchase option between €2.5M and €3.5M, while reports in October 2025 suggested an offer of approximately €5 million could have resulted in a transfer.
