Midfielder Žan Jevšenak has completed his expected transfer to Maribor, signing a contract that will last until 2029. The 23-year-old arrives from the Italian club Pisa. Upon signing, Jevšenak said he was proud and happy to finally wear the Maribor jersey, adding that it was an opportunity he had never imagined as a child. He explained that while he had previously thought a return to Slovenia might not be the right decision, he did not want to refuse Maribor's offer, which he called a good move. He described the feeling of returning to Slovenian pitches after seven years as wonderful and stated that he believes he brings valuable experience from his time abroad. Maribor's sporting director, Zlatko Zahović, expressed his enthusiasm, stating the club had been looking for a young player with an excellent football education. Zahović pointed out that Jevšenak combines both Slovenian and Portuguese schooling, has played in significant matches for his age, and recently had a successful season in the Turkish second division. He also described the new signing as an ambitious and adaptable player who can operate in multiple positions.
