Oxford United have announced the signing of 20-year-old Turkish midfielder Yunus Emre Konak on loan from Premier League side Brentford until the end of the season. The Türkiye Under-21 international, who joined Brentford from Sivasspor in January 2024, has made 14 senior appearances for the Premier League club, including 10 outings in the top flight. The move was completed in time for Konak to be available for the squad for Saturday’s fixture against Bristol City. Head of Football Operations Ed Waldron stated that Konak is a player the club monitored for a long period and tried to sign during the summer, adding it is very pleasing to complete the deal now. Head Coach Matt Bloomfield also noted that the recruitment team had tracked Konak closely and described him as an aggressive midfielder with an excellent work rate and strong technical quality. He has been capped 15 times for Türkiye's U21 team. Konak has not made an appearance for Brentford in the Premier League this season. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €4.50m.
