Yassine Khalifi, a 21-year-old Moroccan midfielder for Sporting Charleroi, had already attracted the interest of Paris Saint-Germain during his time in Lille's youth academy. Sébastien Pennacchio, who was formerly Khalifi's trainer, said that the player distinguished himself in a match against a Paris Saint-Germain team that included Ethan Mbappé. According to Pennacchio, PSG's management subsequently asked him about the midfielder's identity. In an analysis, Alex Teklak noted Khalifi's high-level technique and excellent game insight, adding that he is also physically strong. Khalifi joined his current club in July 2025 and is under contract until June 2027.
