A potential late transfer to West Ham United for Wout Faes became apparent on deadline day as Nuno Espirito Santo sought to reinforce his defense. Although reports indicated that a three-year verbal agreement had been reached between Faes and West Ham United, LeicestershireLive understands that was not the case. LeicestershireLive also understands that there was genuine interest. Later in the day, West Ham United withdrew from the potential transfer completely and pursued a transfer for Morato from Nottingham Forest, leaving Faes at Leicester City.

Wout Faes reached a verbal agreement with West Ham United two days ago, according to Walfoot. The Hammers ultimately cancelled the transfer, as they want to quickly return to the Premier League and were wary about recruiting the player.

Voetbalnieuws.be reported that West Ham United made a last-minute approach for Wout Faes and that the deal did not go through. Faes is likely to remain at Leicester City.

Wout Faes, a 28-year-old Belgian centre-back, is expected to leave Leicester City and is in the process of joining West Ham United, a move that has caused his current club to search for defensive replacements. Faes joined Leicester on September 1, 2022, and his contract with the club is valid until June 30, 2027. He has been capped 28 times for the Belgian national team and has a current market value of €10.00m, according to Transfermarkt.
