Welton Transfer from Gamba Osaka to Levski Sofia
Jens Vissing, the new coach of Gamba Osaka, has stopped a potential transfer for the 28-year-old Brazilian-Bulgarian winger Welton, including his return to Levski. Vissing insisted to the club's management that they keep the winger and has included him in the squad for the new season, despite the player recovering from an injury. At the end of last year, Welton had explored a possible return to Levski. It was reported that he felt unsettled in Japan due to cultural differences. At 'Gerena', there was not much optimism about a deal, as they expected the Brazilian to ask for a high salary and a guaranteed starting role. Welton had agreed to personal terms with Levski, with only an agreement between the clubs remaining. The transfer rumors were supported by earlier reports that Gamba Osaka intended to make significant changes to its squad and sell most of its foreign players, a plan that was in place before the coaching change. According to expert analyses, the transfer fee for the former Levski player is around 1.4 million euros. His contract with Gamba expires early next year. Welton joined Gamba Osaka in February 2024 and has a current Transfermarkt market value of €1.50m.
