Washington Aguerre Transfer from Independiente Medellín to Peñarol

The arrival of Washington Aguerre at Peñarol has been officially announced in Uruguay, according to Futbolred.

Washington Aguerre is leaving Independiente Medellín and will become a new player for Peñarol. Journalist Martín Charquero confirmed the move. The negotiations progressed smoothly, and the official announcement of his arrival is expected in the coming hours.

Futbolred reported that Washington Aguerre has an offer to return to Uruguay and play for Peñarol. Aguerre must soon decide whether to change teams or stay at Independiente Medellín. The Futbolred report also mentioned that his availability for the 2026 season could be affected by a pending surgery that may require up to three months of recovery.

Washington Aguerre's contract with Independiente Medellín is set to conclude on December 31, and there are indications he will not remain for 2026. According to journalist Martín Charquero, Peñarol will start negotiations with Aguerre for a return to the Uruguayan club, and a meeting is scheduled for next week between the club's directors and the player's representative to agree on personal terms. The desire for Washington Aguerre to be at the club next year was communicated by journalist Diego Aguirre to Rafael Monge and the Peñarol directors. If the transfer occurs, it would mark Aguerre's third spell at Peñarol, a club where he has previously won seven titles.

Peñarol previously attempted to negotiate the return of Washington Aguerre, but the deal did not materialize. Aguerre remains with Independiente Medellín. Currently, Transfermarkt estimates his market value at 800k euros.
