According to a report from CalcioMercato, Lecce's Helgason is one of the players being followed by Sampdoria, and the transfer could proceed in the final hours.

Þórir Jóhann Helgason, a 25-year-old Icelandic central midfielder who is out of the squad at Lecce, is being considered for Sampdoria's midfield; however, the player does not appear to be inclined to drop down a division. Helgason joined Lecce in July 2021 and has made six appearances in Serie A during the 2025/2026 season. The Iceland international has 20 caps and 2 goals for his country, a contract that runs until June 30, 2026, and a current market value of €2.30m, according to Transfermarkt.
