According to Krone.at, Thierno Ballo has left Wolfsberger AC and joined the French second division club AS Saint-Etienne. The transfer fee is reported to be around three million euros.

According to 'Krone', WAC Head Coach Thomas Silberberger and Thierno Ballo's agent Peter Huemerlehner stated that the deal with AS Saint-Etienne is complete. Peter Huemerlehner said that Ballo could have already departed, but payments still need to be handled by WAC, and that the situation regarding them is very positive. He added that if everything proceeds as planned, a medical check could happen on Wednesday. Ballo, who was not allowed to travel to the training camp, is expected to bring Wolfsberger AC a transfer fee of around three million euros.

WAC coach Thomas Silberberger confirmed that an overseas transfer will happen for 24-year-old Austrian winger Thierno Ballo, and that this is the reason the player has so far only been conducting individual training sessions. The French second-division club AS Saint-Etienne is the primary club interested in signing him, while Ligue 1 club Le Havre is also said to be interested. Wolfsberger AC, where Ballo is under contract until 2027, is expected to receive a transfer fee of over three million euros. Ballo was on loan at Millwall for the 2025/2026 season, where he made 31 appearances in the Championship, scoring one goal and providing seven assists. The Austrian international has one cap for his country and a current Transfermarkt market value of €6.00m.
