Atlanta United is reportedly interested in bringing Thiago Almada back to MLS. Almada, who had previously played for Atlanta United from 2022 to 2024, made a notable impact during his tenure with 26 goals and 24 assists in 83 matches. Negotiations between Atlanta United and Almada's representatives were said to have begun in early May 2025. The interest emerged as Almada's potential move to European clubs, including Betis, did not materialize due to insufficient interest from major European clubs. Almada had been on loan to Olympique Lyonnais from Botafogo, but financial constraints were cited as the reason Lyon could not make the transfer permanent. According to RTI Esporte, Atlanta United is eager to re-sign Almada, having sold him to Botafogo for approximately 20 million euros the previous year.
