Ștefan Târnovanu has stated that he would like to secure a transfer to a foreign club. However, Mirel Rădoi said that Gaziantep currently cannot pay transfer fees. Rădoi stated that the transfer cannot be considered due to the high sum demanded by FCSB, even without the FIFA ban. He also said that FCSB demands a large transfer fee for Târnovanu, and that the player has a high salary at the club. Rădoi added that the difference Gaziantep could offer would not be enough for the player to move from Romania to Turkey.

Mirel Rădoi, the manager at Gaziantep, stated in an interview for Pro TV and Sport.ro that the Turkish club still wants Romanian goalkeeper Ștefan Târnovanu, but he is aware that the transfer cannot be completed at the moment. The player's agent, Ioan Becali, recently said that he does not intend to let the FCSB goalkeeper move to Gaziantep. Becali suggested to Digi Sport that while he considers Gaziantep an okay club, he does not plan to facilitate the move. Mihai Stoica, chairman of the Board of Directors at FCSB, told Prima Sport that Târnovanu can leave if an offer from a club abroad arrives. Târnovanu, who is 26 years old and has four caps for Romania, is under contract with FCSB until June 2028 and has also been linked with Universitatea Craiova. Recent reports from May 2026 suggest a potential transfer fee of around €2 million, a figure lower than his €3.8 million Transfermarkt valuation. In 2025, FCSB reportedly rejected offers of €2.5 million and €4 million when the club's asking price was between €5 million and €7 million.
